50th Birthday

The big 5-0. It's been a good day. I stayed home with my family, watched a movie, ate way too much chocolate cake and got a nice gift. I'm having a great time with my new guitar (thanks Willie!) and so is Preston. We have been sticking with our online lessons and a few chords are getting easier and less painful (to play and to hear). As with anything else, gathering the gear that goes with the hobby is half the fun and today we got a brand new hard case for the Ibanez. It's a relatively small guitar and the case is spec'd for a classical guitar but fits our acoustic/electric perfectly. Week after next I'm going out of town on vacation to the North Carolina mountains and plan to take it along for the ride. Now the case can take the knocks instead of the guitar. As much as my three chords will let me I'm playing along to some cool songs like "Stir it Up" by Bob Marley and really enjoying it. I'm on the search for an inexpensive amp, but I'm keeping in mind something my bicycling hobby taught me. When it's all said and done you just have to SHUT UP AND PLAY!
